My bike is going to the main dealer tomorrow Thursday 15th for it's 600 service. I have read in the Riders manual page 139 technical data that my 07R1200 bike now requries 20/50 oil. I know 10/40 will surfice but i would like to try 20/50. Now my problem, the dealer can not supply it they use 10/40 can anybody tell me where to buy some in the Leeds area, I need some for tomorrow morning. I have been working Hull today and tried every shop I knew, nobody seems to stock it. Have you bought some in Leeds recently if so where from.

Cheers ORCA:thumb2

Any Harley dealer should be swimming in 20/50 oil or try Autosave they usually stock Duckhams 20/50 for a reasonable price

A lot of classic cars run with 20w50 as well.
If there's a classic car dealer near you maybe that will help.

I bought mine from Demon Tweeks in Wrexham.
Rock Oil, Guardian semi synthetic.
I also saw some Castrol 20w50 in B&Q.
Also, grasping at straws, try Halfords.

Halfords have a 15W50 fully synthetic, but it was over thirty quid for five litres. I settled for 15W50 mineral oil by Comma, which was available in Autoparts (High Wycombe), around about £11 for five litres. My tick over is a lot slower now, however, I did slightly over fill it.

Regards to all,

Hi Orca

I read the same but then spoke to my dealer who said they put 10/40 semi in from new anyhow! If you look at the operating temperature range its about the same anyhow.

The only place I have seen it recently is in Wilkinsons stores. Halfords dont stock it in the smaller stores.

Just hadmine services at Astles in laceby -- they put Mobil Super S in as standard !!!

Thank you for all your replys. Had a bit of a panic on at one stage:eek:
Just thought I would let you know I found some Putoline 20/50 at Wyldes motorcycles, 101-103 Roundhay road, Leeds, 0113 2491856.
He knew exactly which bike I wanted it for:bow and stated he was going to order somemore:thumb2 . Seems a decent chap, give him a go if any of you tossers need some!!!

Cheers ORCA:beerjug:

Crude oil prices...

....thought when I popped into the local dealership the other day he'd mistook my request for a "litre of Castrol GPS" as for "barrell of crude" - why? well it costeth £8.50.

Ferkin daylight robbery that - just glad I've passed the 15k mark on the old dog and the consumption has settled down a bit...otherwise at these prices I'd be adding considerably to running costs!!!:tears

As someone mentioned previously a harley shop has loads of the stuff, mineral, plus they also sell a synthetic 20/50 as well. If you can find a Rock Oil supplier you should be able to get a semi synthetic 20/50 and semi synthetic 15/50.

I used to buy Silkoline 20W50 for the 1150 from Woosters M/C on the A64 just beyond Scholes, it was less than £20 then.
Intresting to see 20w/50 required for the 1200!

Why are we putting 20/50 in the bikes but the dealers and the hand book recomends 10/40?
I use 10/40 GPS
The 06 GSA hand book states that 10/40 is good upto 30c, however the 05 GS handbook states 10/40 is good upto 20c, TOTAL confusion!
Jim
