Above input noted with thanks, especially from Steptoe who I know is a legend with all things oilhead.

I will call in at the workshop next week to examine/discuss. Apparently at least two other studs are in a similar condition, they are currently undergoing a soak in oil.
Sent you a PM Dave :D

No problem at all You are most Welcome
You’re a good man Farkoff, I, and I suspect many others have benefited from the way in which the likes of yourself, Steptoe, Ian J Hartley, Mikeyboy, to mention just a few have given of their knowledge and experience on here.

Yes, this community has always been first class for advice / parts / offers of help, it is second to none, well worth the annual fee:clap:thumb2

Progress now being made.

Thanks to Albatross on here, I am now in possession of a good flange plate assembly ... cheers Albert :thumb2

Bit of a farce with James Sherlock, turns out that the tank I had purchased had been incorrectly labelled and was actually for a GSA, so I cancelled the order. Too bleddy heavy, too much aggro to fit with the revised lines, plus my engine bars would have fouled it :blast

However, I subsequently managed to source a black standard 24L tank via fleabay, it has scrubbed up well, and the all-important studs look to be in good order ... and it was significantly cheaper than the aforementioned GSA tank. A road-trip to Exeter was required to collect, but I was able to mix in an overnight with daughter and son-in-law PapaHayd:thumb2 so a good result.

Now to get it all back together and pay the bill ... 12k service, new tyres, plus the tank caper :blast

Plan as stated is to get the original tank refurbed with new stud(s) so I have a spare, but I'm hoping this replacement tank will see me out :rob
