wow ... love what you'e done with your XChallenge ... I was going to sell my XChallenge, but might keep it now and do the same ... how much is the fairing if you don't mind me asking ? Also, the low fender, is it a KTM one ?

Great pics btw :thumb2

The fender is off a ktm990adv and I used the brackets from a italian enduro site to mount them to the ktm forks I swapped to as they have different fitting to the adv. they also raise the fender by a few cm for mud clearance. I am hoping to swap it for the RR fender if I can get my hands on one.

294km of Morocco Dakar Fesh Fesh Piste today

I think I can say the bike is run in.

Sweet pics Clayton, looks like you had a great time!

Bike holding up ok I assume? You went with a mostly proven setup so it should! :D

What camera did you use for those wide angle pics, is that a GoPro Hero HD?

Cheers,
Lukas

ok you got my attention :p

:typehow was the fairing and the lights ???

AWESOME.

the lights are phenomenal, I was happy for the sun to go down and fire up those bad boys.

Fairing is great and survived a few proper crashes it has a few scars now.

The mount is still perfect does not rattle or move at all, same can't be said for the tt mount which rattles away. (that mount is history) must run to get the ferry to malaga.

Hey Lukas,

Yes I have GoPro V1 and a DSLR and my iphone4S with me DSLR is heavy and a pain to get at but takes very very nice shots.

Bike is great, have a few fine tunes to do, am going to drop it in holland on the way back (if I can do the extra miles to get there).

Good to hear, i'd like to take that path one day .....

btw you mentioned a problem with the rad hoses and the SR Racing header pipe, what was the story there?

the exhaust header was touching the rad hose underneath it, and burning through, i bodged it with a piece of truck in tube but that just got burned through also. In merzuga there was a spanish guy with his family, he had driven the dakar in "98 and had a proper tool kit and spares, he cut up some silicon rad hose from his spare for his land cruiser and wired it all in with 2 layers and a coke can. it was the day before the 300kms of the fesh fesh piste (which he has driven a few times), and thought it should be sorted before i left and he was right. Really great guy. Have a photo of the bodge will dig it out.

we also rotated the exhaust header counter clockwise to make as much space between the pipe and hose, per walters advice. There is a thread on adv rider but i can't find it.

Awesome pics :bow:bow

We were out there in December but on hire bikes. Can't wait to get back there on my 650

I spotted a similar issue with my remus header when i fitted it. so far i have a heavy duty zip tie around the front subframe and hose which seems to be keeping the hose far enough away.

On the remus,if you make a small bracket for the rear mounting point ,to lower the silencer at the back, it will in turn raise the header pipe away from the hose.
I hope i made that clear enough.

Great bike Clayton.

My Remus has 2 mounting lugs, upper & lower just like the oem silencer, don't they all ?

AFAIK yes. I assume the problem was the larger diameter Remus header sitting closer to the pipe than standard. Lower the back of the sliencer and the front will pivot upwards.

I have the std header and the SR Racing Titanium exhaust, the coupler piece from the std beamer exhaust could use a slight extra bend to give the rad hose extra clearance and not have the exhaust sit to high to mount.

It is on my list of fixes.
