Can anyone give info
My brake failure warning light is on
My rear brake light is on constantly
My servos are not operating.
Is there a way to isolate the brake micro switches as I think the rear switch has stuck on.
I have checked my levers so they are not fouling on the guards.
I have disconnected the rear brake micro switch at the plug/socket under the seat
I have disconnected the front brake micro switch at the lever.
I have WD,ed both switches
Problem still exists
Cheers

One more thing to check is your bulb and back light assembly.

They are prone to corrosion and it may be a dodgy connection - also, IIRC, if a bulb filament blows the Canbus uses the other filament instead...........or summit like that

I have changed the bulb and cleaned the contacts.
Yesterday I changed my handlebars. Could that have done something to cause the problem as the bike was OK b4 although I did have the same problem about 3 months ago which cleared itself. I had it checked on the BMW gizmo and said no fault had showed up.

I had this once and like you, tried all the sensible checks and drew a blank. I then tried something stupid, booted up with the brake lever held on (exactly what you shouldn't do) and when I let go after the boot had failed, the light went out. Then booted up normally and the problem was solved. Might be worth a try if you are still stuck.

Disconnecting the rear brake switch may cause a failure. I think the start up sequence checks for a closed contact. Worth a short-circuit check.

If all else fails, retrace your steps and check the wiring to the front brake microswitch for trapped wiring, overtight cable ties etc.

If your brakes were fine until you changed handlebars thats probably the reason for your problem.

It may also be worth making up a small shorting strap to close the wiring to the front handlebar microswitch circuit and see what happens, or else test the microswitch with a meter for open/close operation then put it back and try it again.

What about your ABS failure?
I have a similar problem.
Excuse me for my english, i am italian

If the rear switch is stuck in the wrong position (or somehow not detected as present) it will cause the initialization of the ABS circuit to fail and pop up the warning symbol. This initialization will also disable the servo operation leaving you with residual braking only.

As you say your rear light is permananetly on - I'd say your switch is stuck on the "operating brake" position.

My R1100S with Servo brakes did this when the adjuster bolt on the brake lever (that is intended to depress the microswitch) got caught above the spring of the microswitch instead of resting against the spring - easy fix for me which a dealer managed to help me with down the phone - I did ride the bike for about 20 miles on residual braking before I fixed it though and found I could brake quite well without the servos.

BTW I do know what caused the problem - I clipped a traffic cone with the cylinder head the day before and flicked the cone against my pedals - guess a rock could do the same thing.

I had a brake light warning come on whilst riding. I turned the ignition off and back on whilst making sure the leavers were free and clear. This didn't work. I have no idea if the lights were stuck on. I rode carefully to the nearest dealer and they diagnosed a total failure of the ABS unit in that it was sending far to much pressure to the rear wheel and almost none to the front.

Fortunately for me it was fixed under warranty.
