help!
2005 1200gs
anyone had a problem where their brake light shows constantly?
(ie. shows when ignition is on but neither brake lever or pedal are applied)

where should i start looking for a fault?

many thanks

Check hand-guard isn't touching brake lever?
Make sure the relevant switches aren't sticking.
Does this bring up a red triangle type warning on the dash?

:nenau

yes, solved by swearing, shouting and WD40 round the brake pedal.

Problem was rear not front in my case

NO WARNING LIGHT ON DASH - JUST GOING OUT FOR SOME INVESTIGATION - ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS WELCOME - THANKS!

thanks very much chris - the hand guard was indeed just touching the lever - was squeezed into a busy london bike bay - guess somebody had knocked it- thanks ! (problem solved)

Not always the handguard

I've had this problem too - and it was not the handguard in my case.
It happened when i was on the BM Safari and I suspect dust was the cause - cleaned the front brake lever/housing/servo activation switch with compressed air, water and WD40 in that order. This solved the problem for a while but it came back last week in heavy rain (intermittently).
Bike is in today for a service and I have asked them to look at this as a warranty issue.
