There's a growing group of people building up a map of the UK as well as the rest of the world. As there's a lot of people here that use GPS's, just by uploading your GPS tracks to the database will help speed up the creation of this map. This doesn't just include metal roads but other stuff such as byways, footpaths etc. Information as well as the place to upload your tracks can be found at http://www.openstreetmap.org/ If you're feeling even more helpful you can convert your tracks using the provided software and add them directly to the map. Because you're working on a live database the fear is that you'll wreck others work. Add to that the fact that all 3 of the editors are incomprehensible and you really begin to twitch.
