I want to join the two wires below together forming a lead with the 2 plugs attached at either end.

The wires corresponding to the left plug are
1. Red
2. White
3. Plain uncoated copper.

But on the lead on the right the colours are;

1. Copper and green
2. red and green
3. blue
4. red
5.green
6. pink
7. plain uncoated copper.

The lead on the right is for the headset connecting to an XDA II

The lead on the left goes into the music socket on autocom.

Can I join them and which wires should I connect

Thanks in advance.

You could do with a multi-meter that has a continuity tester on it
And test what leads go where

The one on the left should be ..

Tip is right speaker and usually red

Second ring in is left speaker and usually white

The bottom is the negative for both right and left speakers and is usually just bare copper (screening) for the signal

The one on the right …….

Oh dear sounds funny

Copper and green and plain copper leads. I would have expected one other colour that also had copper round it so as to individually screen left and right channels.

Without a meter I have no idea …you may also find that its made up of a sort of very thin cord wrapped in copper foil in each lead (makes the lead more flexible but near impossible to solder if your not good at it), if this is so it would be better to try and buy a lead for it.

Thanks Tuned,

Tried this from Mobile Fun But it caused the music to become intermittent :(

The original Autocom lead supplied with the unit fitted both autocom and XDA II but had the same effect

Am going to Maplins tomorrow to see if they can supply something that will work properly.

Below is the xda II plug. I think you can just make out the recess and circular contact that are not present on the other plugs.

Think this is the problem :(

by the looks of it you have taken the plug from a headset that has some sort of in-line volume control or answer button on it..

so you might need this
