I'm in (another) mechanical fix. I have a shiny new MRA Vario screen and can't get the bugger on. On one side, it's firmly attached (in fact, I can't undo it to move it!) but on the other I just cannot get the thing to tighten up and hold the screen. Should I fully tighten the plastic part on the outside THEN add the locknut on the inside or the other way around? I've got one of the ones on the front but can't now do the other one either. It's just impossible to get in there to the nuts. I'll get a "bendy socket" at lunchtime and try again tonight but if there are any tips that'd be great.

Thanks folks.

For this one I think we need pics & a description

I`ll give it a go from what I think you mean :D

Step 1 take it all off again :thumb2

When you do the following don`t tighten the nuts and bolts just in case you need to slightly adjust it all.

Then attach the bottom bit of the screen with the allen head bolts so it can pivot from there. Then lift it up and slide the big plastic side adjuster nuts with the plastic "washer" bit in through the holes on the screen and into the adjuster cutouts on the bike. Then spin the threaded metal bits down onto the adjuster screws either side so they slot into the grooves to slide up and down when the adjusters are backed right off. Then screw on the dome headed locknuts tight.

You should now have your screen on the bike :thumb2 :D
Make sure it tilts up and down like the original did when you slackened off the side adjuster nuts. If it does great :thumb2 NOW tighten all the nuts and bolts up that so far you`ve left slack.

ta da!!

It`s on :thumb2:D:D (or should be :blast )

Hope this helps :eek

Fantastic - thanks mate. I've just been to Robert Dyas for Man Tools so I'll have a go after work. If all else fails, I do have a nice hammer.

shouldnt be a prob , mine fitted really well?uv done summat wrong but must be something easy/simple, it fits same as a standard screen, ps they are a lot better for the motorway:thumb2
any probs, like the man says , post some pics

Lee - thank you very much indeed mate. Perfect fit once I read your great instructions - brilliant! Works a treat too when it's turned up to 11.

Thanks again,

Richard
