Hi
Sorry to be curt - bad signal. Can anyone suggest a place local to fort William to change r1200gs rear pads asap. On holiday and brake down to the metal - was fine 700 miles ago so not sure why!

I know BMW are in Inverness - according to sat nav - but could do with closer

Cheers
Darren

You got a mobile number mate?
I could send a set of rear pads through in the morning, have a mate coming down.
That is assuming that the rear pads are the same as a 1200 and i am pretty sure that they are:thumb2

If Rab gets you the pads down and you need help to fit them give me a call 07826 521 729.
I’m not offering my services as a mechanic, but I’m local to Fort Bill and I know folk that can and will help.

The Scottish Section!

Where else would you get it.... stranded in the Highlands, Britain's most remote area and two top blokes come to your aid......
Makes me proud to be a Tosser:thumb2

Hope you get sorted.

It so happens I fitted new rear pads to my 2006 GS12 today. I could fish the old pads out of the bin. They do have 3 mm on them and would do a turn if needed. Done less than 10K.

And it also so happens that tomorrow 23rd I'm riding up through Fort Bill on my way to Ullapool.

Could load up with tools if needed.

Tell you what - I'll pack them and look out for you at the side of the road.

Seriously, let me have pm with mobile number before 1000 hours Thursday.

no use from me here - just to add to Betty bollocks, on what a fantastic site this is.... within 3 hrs and you get 3-4 people willing to help you with a random problem in the middle of Scotland....

All I need from now on is an I-phone!

Unfortunately, he's not a subscriber so he can't PM you......nor does he have a mobile number in his profile:blast

Hopefully he'll be able to get back online here if he's not sorted tomorrow am and somehow it can be jiggled about.......

Darren, if you need to, text me your moby number and I'll pass it on to BB55, unless he wants to put his up in public (I'm a whore so I don't mind :blast)

Hi

I'm posting this for darren. He rang me to ask about replies as his iPhone signal is too bad for accessing the Internet. Anyway, he was touched by all the help offered. He's managed a temporary fix and is taking it to Inverness. He'll fill you in when he's back, and told me to say he'd promise to finally get around to subscribing.

Thanks again!

Hi

Thanks again for all the help. Sorry I couldn't respond to all at the time, but was having real trouble with iphone reception so had to call a friend to post for me.

Managed to limp to Inverness, and fair play to Calterdon BMW they squeezed me in and had the pads replaced and me ready to go within 25 mins of arriving.

Turns out the right hand-protector had twisted, and was very lightly pressing on the lever for 350 miles of motorway - surprised the front pads are still ok!

I knew I should have put those stickers on. Actually in my slight defence I put my Val Muffs on for the trip, so couldn't see the levers - in fact I suspect it was when putting on the Muff the day before that I twisted the guard.

As promised I finally got around to subscribing!

Very impressive support. I would like to think we would all help wherever we happen to be. Might need to improve the iPhone support. Maybe we need a Tosser iPhone application :D

I'm planning a trip to scotland in september hopefully so if I get caught out I know you guys are around.
I'm pretty new to this but the support on this site seems great.
Glad to be a Tosser :clap

Cheers
JJ
