Hi, i've seen a pic posted (by mouse i think) showing a power socket somewhere at the front of the bike that is "taped" over which is utilised by the BMW Nav II installation.

I've searched this forum and GPS forum but can't find the pic in order to locate the socket....

Does anyone have the pic? or know which thread had the pic in?
I'm trying to locate this socket.

Thanks

I don't have a picture but I can tell you where to find it. (I just did it yesterday.) The plug is located on the on the left side of the bike close to the steering head. It is not under the tank. It is in plain view. It is not taped over. It is covered with a black plastic cap. Gently bend the tab back (but do not break it off) and the cap easily pulls off.

Excellent, i'll have a look later.. thanks.

Did you use it for the Nav II or did you just buy a plug and wire it to an existing cable for another GPS?

It's in the FAQ :D

I am using that socket to power my Streetpilot 3, I reckon you can use any 12v device from it as long as it doesn't draw too much power. And with the 1200's clever protection, the only effect if you do draw too much is that the bike should shut off power to that circuit.

I use it for the Nav II. If you use that plug the power will stay on about 45 seconds after you shut off the bike - like the emergency flashers.
