Hopefully, someone can give me a pointer as to what maybe wrong with the GS.
Just went out to go to work, started her up and noticed a grinding sounding noise coming from the left side of the bike as i'm sat on her(oil checked yesterday, and plenty in her)....... lights and instrument panel lights failed too..... pulled clutch lever, select first gear, gently pull away to see what happens, and lights all come on. As clutch lever pulled in again, a grating sound from the left side and lights cut out again....... went round the block and brought bike back home......
Noticed too that when alarm deactivated and ignition key switched to 'on', the bike starts up instead of having to press starter button on the bars...
yesterday i had a head light bulb blow, but i don't think thats related to this problem.
Bike was out all night in heavy frost with no cover, but left it before and not a problem at all.
Any ideas folks....?

Recovery chap just been, and the frost had seized the starter button on causing the starter motor to make the 'grinding' noise......
That'll teach me to put the cover on her ........... what a prat I am.!!

Try squirting the switchgear with WD40 to prevent ice/frost forming on or inside the switches.
