Hi people

I have decided that the adventure bike route is the way forward after deciding to come back to biking after an absence , but which one ??????????????

I have test rode the Triumph explorer , and the new water cooled GS , and they are both cracking bikes , but do I get a GSA so unsure at the minute but I will be buying one or the other , but would like abit of help:thumb2

I am looking for a bike that will take me to work , blasts on a sunday , + take me travelling starting with this country for now but expanding to further places abroad, the usual alps pyrennees and I am looking to follow the tour de france for a week camping all the way on most journeys. But most of all the bike has got to be reliable .................................... The TEX seems to have a lot of issues at the minute , which is swaying me towards the BMW.

So my question is which model? , which year is the most reliable? , I will be looking to buy secondhand with all the toys on , but need help please:bow

But really looking forward to getting back into it again :beerjug:

After many years of Supersports bikes, I opted for the 2013 R1200GS Adventure 90th Anniversary Edition, and I love it. I'm sure there will be better advice on it's way from other members who have had actual experience with all models, but bottom line, I think you'll love the GSA ;)

Test ride a GSA and see which one you prefer - simples :D

Having had 3 GSA's I now prefer the standard GS's (lighter, nimbler and a bit quicker) but there are good points to both ;)

I have had both and prefer the GSA range ect. Now have a 800 GSA and loving it. But if I had to choose between a 12 gs or GSA it's GSA JJH

Had my GSA for nearly 4 years now after being a sports bike rider, best decision I've ever made. BMW's by their very nature are not cheap to maintain but I have had no drama's since buying it. Like the add says "does what its says on the tin" load up, fuel up and head off and enjoy many thousands of miles on the open roads. Go for the GSA you won't regret it, the GS is a bit lighter but once your wheels up and rolling you won't notice the difference. I use mine for commuting in to London in all weathers and it make a crappy journey a joy to ride even in the cold or pissy rain.

Sure this chap would have liked somthing a bit lighter about now :D :D

Thanks for all the replys , think it is going to be the GSA despite it being heavier , I think it will suit my needs down to the ground , commute, scratch, and touring , so time to start saving and looking ..

I wish I had gone for the GSA as the 150 mile til fill up is a bit of a pain.

I'm going to have some toast in the morning.

Should I have marmalade or marmite on it?

Oooooooooooo I really don't know.........:(

I posted a similar question just over 6 weeks ago, over 3000 miles later I am the happy and proud owner of an 04' 1150GSA :D
Pretty glad that I went for the GSA as I really appreciate the extra leg room between seat and pegs for longer distance comfort (I'm 5' 11"), fitted Tobinators to the screen and there's no buffeting now either.

I love it :bounce1

This forum is also brilliant for information, help and advice....something you will definitely need from time to time.

I'm biased....go GSA....

I have the 2011 1200GS and regularly get around 180miles from a tank, the light comes on and you can push 16ltrs into the tank tank is a 20ltr on them so 200miles should be acheivable but ive never pushed it.

At 6"3 i love the bike and even with the other half on the back it does me fine.

Think the next one will be a GSA as i would like the larger tank and higher bike.

Whichever you get you will love it, does take a bit of getting used to but after a couple of hundred miles you will love it brilliant bikes..
