2000 W 1150 37000 miles.
Coming home tonight, refused to change into 5th from top, then eventually did.
Then as I drew up at a roundabout, it wouldnt drop down the box, feels like the lever is at the bottom of its movement.
Anyway eventually went into 1st.
Pulled away fine will change up no probs, came to next stop and refused to drop down again much messing about with the lever it eventually dropped down into 1st?
Any ideas?

There is a lot of probs with the lever mechanism getting seized up or very difficult to engage gear etc.

I would do a search on cleaning the linkage and hopefully that is all it needs.

I did a quick search and they all seem to point to the linkage.....

Don't paniiic.
Yup, happened to me. Take linkage apart, clean, re-lube. Fixed. So easy even the spanner shy can do it :thumb
Edit: In the mean time just make sure the lever re-centres after each gear change. It's the lever not centering that stops it from engaging the next gear.

BC, its the little plastic spacer on the gearbox linkage, wore out on mine after 14000, common problem, exact same symptoms, I admit to shitting myself when it happened, cause I thought the gearbox had gone. 10 min fix job. :thumb
