Can any body advise, my 1150rt has started weeping oil from the gaiter

round the rear drive shaft. The rear seals i beleive were done under warranty

with the preivous owner the machine is a 54 plate and has done only 16700

miles.Do you think bmw would cover it or would i have to pay for it. Advice

would be gratefully receieved.I know its not a gs so feel free to tell me to

go away :bounce1 garbo:bounce1

weeping oil.

:Take on side of the gasiter off and have a look to see wuere the oil is comming from, i.e. down from the gear box or up out of the bevel box.
that way you'll have some idea whats wrong. The only way to see about warrenty is to go and see your nice BMW dealer and enquire. Bear in mind that once you have ascertained where the oil is comming from you can at least advise BMW's what the problem is. Hve you opver filled the bevel box or gear box? just a silly thought.
dave ( I've almost got an adventure tank on my bike!, now got to save up to fill it up!.)GS.

Then take the filler plug off the gearbox and finaldrive and see which is low on oil. :blast

No good asking us any of us if we'd do the warranty work
:nenau your BMW dealer is the only one who can answer that .

just found out its from the gearbox side is it a big job and approxamately

how much.:bounce1 garbo:bounce1

Leave it a while after you've wiped it dry. I've fretted about this in the past, seems to have cured itself.

Unless the gearbox FD are running dry:eek:
