For the last couple of days I've been ignoring an update message box for real player so when i clicked yes tonight to download update several icons appeared on my desktop ( mozzilla firefox was one free games was another )and my internet home page would no longer load plus had to do hard reset to regain control no warnings came from avg anti spyware nowt said registry cleaner no joy anti-spyware progs but had to resort to system restore (win xpsp2) back on line after an hour so the 64000 dollar question does anyone have any clues :nenau

can't answer your question, - but Real player is a bit of a pain the way it screws up you using other media players once it is installed. I uninstalled mine.

Hey Guys,

On page 14 of May's issue of "Computer Shopper" magazine is a very interesting piece on Real Player.,,,

Too much to re-type here as I only use two fingers to type but the general concensus is that Version 10.5 and 11 "breached it's regulations on open disclosure of what the program mactually does"

I think you may find more info on the U.S. based watchdog StopBadware.org.

There is a mention of advertising software bundled with Real Player called a "Message Centre"

"It doesn't remove this software when RealPlayer is removed" is also mentioned

Might be worth a look either at the site or the magazine.
