The answer is Quest or Quest2.

Can you really get "UK and france, germany, belgium" on a Quest / Quest2? And then also "adding addional maps when I get the chance"? I thought they only had ~256MB on them? I just did the UK and France and that was nearly 500MB.

Regards

Mark

Should have got a 276C!

Have you thought about an excellent unit, great colours, fast recalc called the 276C? not the latest but still one of the best.
 ah yes, it only takes 250MB cartridges...
a major hurdle for GS'ers  :D :P ;)

I think with the Rider you'll have to swap map cards for different countries. And the European maps are not included in the box so you have to buy them, along with extra cards, at about £100 each (For a card with maps, can also get a CD of all of europe but then you still need more cards).

The 2610 will allow you to put a 1GB card (or maybe even 2GB?) which should be enough for the majority of those four countries you mention.

My choice would be a 2610, but I haven't used the Rider, just going on what I've read about it.

Answer is yes. The Quest2 has 2GB of RAM and comes with all of Europe preloaded.

Would I buy a Quest2?
No. The Quest2 gives a great value for the money but personally I prefer the 276C.

I think anyone else posting a "which GPS?" thread should just be pointed to this answer, as it is, in my not-so-humble opinion, utterly correct. The definitive answer.

The 276C rocks!!
And as more and more 'gps virgins ' or the 'must buy the latest device' brigade go shopping this Xmas, that in turn, will make the price of the garmin memory chips drop- good for us :D :thumb
276C - go on...you know you want to!

Plus, Garmin now have a 512 MB chip out, which will give you a fair old chunk of Europe to carry around.

it does- reply from garmin enc.

They do, they do...

As soon as I know that the 276 will be able to adress 512MB I will order one.
