Help me make my mind up - please!

OK, I'm on my second GS, had it from new since March 03 and bought it with every intention of keeping it a long time.

However... have already had one new ABS pump fitted under warranty and I'm beginning to wonder about the evo system's long-term reliability (and subsequent expense), especially in the light of many postings from others who have had the same problem.

I could trade in for a new 1200 this spring, but I fear that their own developmental problems are going to take a while longer to fix, and I still think they are massively overpriced.

What do I do (apart from buy a TDM)?

Extended warranty ? (Not available in Ireland)

Honda Varadero ? If you dont go offroad.

Keep it and drive it, I've done 20,000 km without servo problems as have most others. I really suspect that servo failures are in single figures. Do we have concrete evidence of multiple failures ?

I agree. Just keep it and ride it. You could buy anything and have problems. Loads of people have had loads of these bikes and had no problems at all.

Interesting.

I have just been through a similar experience.

In no order:

1. Front Suspension, failed and replaced
2. Rear Suspension failed and replaced
3. Rear final drive, failed and replaced
4. Failed rear brake
5. Front fork braces and fork ends - Coroded and replaced
6. Starter Motor failed and replaced
7. Ring gear, failed and replaced
8. 2 x batteries (one failed and one was faulty
9. Warped front break disks, failed and replaced.
10. Currently in the Garage for a Gear box seal which failed this last week and is now replaced.
All replaced under warranty.

My bike is a 03 ADV (march)21k on the clock and have the same worries, which I have written to Motorad GB about just yesterday.

I ride in a controlled but purposful fashion, am 23 stone and go off road regularly.

I will keep the bike until March, if BMW maybe offer a prefered price on warranty or something else then maybe I will consider keeping it. The way I see it is that most of the bike has been replaced, so very few things can now go wrong, save the brakes, gearbox or engine.

I will let you know the outcome.
