Firstly I don't have GPS, just a map and compass! I do however have these co-ordinates from Helge Pedersen! My map has curved longnitude lines as it's a tourist map so is extemely innacurate to find this location! Can anyone use their GPS to locate this spot and show me where it is? I believe there is treasure to be found here!:D

A small clue, it should be somewhere on the East coast of Iceland! Thanks in anticipation Chris and whoever posts an accurate reply can have a share of my booty!

Bah, Judge beat me to it!

Here's my map anyway, strangely identical to his, maybe we both used MapSource :D

X marks the spot

And, zoomed in a bit, we see the location is on the river ... assuming the coodinates and map are accurate of course :)

Here lies Treasure!

Thanks guys, I was a few Kms to the East of you! There are some part worn F650 knobblies in an old concrete biulding there, left by Helge in 2001 in his Iceland DVD. There should be some life left in them:D Not that I'm Scots or owt! Damn, hope someone doesn't beat me to it!! Leave well alone or oi will send ee the black spot oi will:crossbone

Here lies treasure?

Hang on a minute, oi smells a rat, if oi remembers rightly the river is a bit wider in the DVD! maybe you've dupped me for the 'treasure' for yourselves and are already weighing anchor to get your plunder! Either that or Helges GPS has gone wonky or someones done a typo:D thanks Chris

New Correct co-ordinates!

Got these new co-ordinates can someone mark on a map and post ,thanks

I think I may have to invest in one of these things:D

In Mapsource, how do you make save maps to .jpg files. Would have been nice to know...

You don't actually do it in Mapsource, once you have the map you want then use the 'print screen' to capture the displayed screen image (CTRL-PrtScn) then open your image editing software I use Irfanview (free) or Photoshop (not free) paste in the captured image from your clipboard using the paste command. Then crop/resize to suit then save. :thumb

Yahooooooooooooo!

Excellent!! Thanks judge, should be able to see the old ruin from the ship on the way in! I have been in touch with Globeriders and recieved revised co-ords!

A quicky about GPS! Is there a simple, cheap and easy to use even hand held unit I could use to find these co-ords without taking a degree in GPS jiggery pokery or spending an absolute fortune or am I just peeing in the wind?

Yes.

GArmion Etrex should do you for that purpose......about 80 quid I think......

LAsh out though.....get a quest for about 300 quid and get voice, door to door routing and the whole schebang, and still pocketable/useable as a walkers GPS

Isn't that a bit of a long way to go, just to get a pair of second hand tyres

I've got some in the shed at the bottom of my garden if you want them. :D
