hi my 02 1150GS has melted the rear left indicator - behind exhaust outlet ! it happened yesterday whilst out on a ride, the weeather was nice but not that nice to melt plastic!!!

my bike has had the cat removed but still has the standard silencer fitted, wondering if it may be a duff sensor messing up the fuelling, although it still runs fine.

bit worried as im off to france/switzerland/austria and germany next weekend and i thought the bike was fine!

any ideas greatfully recieved asi am up against the clock here and its 50 miles to nearest BMW dealership!
thanx

On a long run, you definitely run the risk of melting the pannier (been there, done that). Its worse with a Remus.

Best solution is to get some heatshield foam and stick it to the pannier, or put the cat back in. You can also get extenders (not sure if possible for a standard can) which deflect the exhaust gasses enough to miss vital parts.

Melted my pannier last weekend = very annoying:mad: Just bought a set of shortened indicator stalks with a view to reducing melting indicator syndrome.
