Installing two pair of hellas (fog n driving) to me pride n joy, using this wiring diagram supplied by Mike O.
At the moment I,v got a pair of ring fitted via Robs switch.......
Wot I,m after doining is keeping Mr Farmers switch to turn the fog lights off, if I need to ??????

My question is how do I get the switch in the loop, switch is installed via Robs instructions, is it just a case of swooping a wire over on a relay (op so):confused:

As you can tell I,m no electrical genius, so simple terms pleaseeeeee....:( :(

Ho yeh I,m losing the ring lights :cool: :cool:

Thanks in anticipation

In that circuit diagram, the top relay is doing nothing! Remove it and join the two red wires that currently go to 30 and 87. Remove the yellow wire going to 86 (and its Scotchlock) and throw it away.

Use your now spare relay and Rob's switch to control the power feed to the lower relay (ie between the fuse and 30).

I've no-one has posted a circuit diagram by the time I get back from the shops, I'll do one.

Thanks Greg:thumb

If I do it this way will the fogs go off when I switch from dip to main beam/driving lights ?
thats wot I,m after,
After keeping rob,s switch in cos
1, its already fitted
2, someone might not like fogs been on all the time ?

Bloody confusing this electrickery ?:) :)

Thats my old twin light diagram. The top relay does do something, it switches the aux lights connected to the dip beam. The change over relay at the bottom ensures you dont overload the alternator. This is only required if you are using two sets of aux lights, one set linked to main and the other set linked to dip, as in the photo below.

Sorry, yes, the top relay did do something, but should really be redundant.

Here's a 'back of a fag packet' version of how to rewire so that your can:
  1. run with no lights*
  2. run with parking lights only*
  3. run with just bike's dip
  4. run with bike's dip & main
  5. run with bike's dip and aux dip lamps
  6. run with bike's dip and main and main aux lights (but not dip aux lights)
    [/list=1]

    WARNING - this wiring is for the Autoswitch unit. I know Rob's works the same, but I don't know what colour wires he uses.

    *Assumes that you have h/light switch

Thanks Greg,
Will check with Rob on wire colours before I attack me bike.

cheers

:) :)

I've only just spotted this. This is the first time I've seen the wiring colours for the Autoswitch but it looks like a straight swap.

Autoswitch/Motoswitch

Red = Red/White
Violet = Yellow/Black
Black = Brown
Orange = Brown/White

Thanks chaps.....:thumb
