Please help. :(

Last week i deleted a load of files. After having found Porn (don't ask :spitfire )on 'my recent documents' rather than go thru all the offending files one by laborious one, i deleted the lot.

So far so good. Then i went into 'My pictures' to check in there....and only 1 photo file was remaining.

Now i had downloaded all files from my Fuji Finepix in the same way over the last 2 years into 'My Pictures' and hadn't created back-up CD's (note to self). They are all JPEG files and i can't work out why that 1 file wasn't deleted, and how to get back all the others.

I did a search here, and have successfully done a system restore to an earlier date. But the files are not returned. I have done a search on the PC for them, but it tells me no such named files can be found.

Can anyone guide me as what to do, as this is causing a sh*t load of hassle. :bow

Try Start>Search>Pictures Music or video and enter *.jpg, then let it search your Hard drive....try the same with *.jpeg as well....If they're still on your PC, it'll find them.

Just as a matter of interest, how did you delete the 'recent documents' folder??

Have you checked whats in the 'Recycle Bin'.

Don't do too much else with the PC until you sort it, there are undelete utilities avialable, but it will be too late if you have written new data on top

Here's one that a google search found. No warentee written or implied from me of course :thumb

Fanum, tried what you suggested...no joy

Jimbo, downloaded the program, but it hasn't got a useful 'how to' part, so no sense to the uninitiated....

Any other program to try or suggestion to make :nenau Ta.

Isobuster

Isobuster will look directly at your files on disk bypassing the FAT table. Do a Google search and you can download a free version which I believe will let you recover files. This program is very useful if you have a CDR with data which looks unreadable in Windows Explorer. It is well worth the purchase cost if you do need the full version.

Hope this helps. PB

Ta to all :thumb

Downloaded a free programme worked a treat.......... :nod

I'll post the link later for anyone else caught out again. Thanks again. :bow
