Help needed Brake Failure light

Riding to work today Brake failure light came up on dash board had a little panick then tried the brakes all ok! but riding back to my hotel in Harrow the rear brake when pushed down felt as if it was pumping?am not at home so cant look at hand book.

any ideas what it could be,do i need to get it seen to?

your help would be most welcome lads

Be sure the battery is holding charge on all 6 cells. Low system volts can cause ECU problems.**

Brake switches and faulty rear light can upset the system. Check all brake switches and the brake light bulb/unit.

**One day I will get around to fitting that aftermarket voltmeter - honest.

It could also possibly be a speed sensor.
