So heres the story i've been given a canbus connector and i spliced this into my garmin gps lead, went looking for the canbus connector and thought i had found it beneath the clocks, someone whose had beemers for years said "yes thats it". So i duely plugged it in and started the bike..............then all hell broke loose (slight overkill there !) the bike gave a little fart, indicators / horn etc and a small burning smell. Switched it off immediately and ended up with a bike that starts but no handle bar controls no clocks and heated grips that stay on even with the ignition off. So i have quickly whipped off the neg battery lead to stop the grips going into melt down !!

Help what have i done ! and can it be sorted without going to BMW.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your predicament Les.
Do you have any auto-electrician within spitting/wheeling distance? A good one will understand the finer parts of a Canbus, and should be cheaper too.
Then you will have to go to BMW.
:(
Bet someone will be along shortly with a full explanation, and someone else with " a broken pen and a pipe cleaner" solution.:thumb2
