Hi
I've just bought a new 1200gs. I did own a 1150 so know the problems keeping the radiator grill clean and tidy, so I bought a 'Reyno Radiator Grill'.

Only problem is I'm a complete imbecile when it comes to anything mechanical. Are these hard to fit? I bought it off 'Nippy Normans' site, and whilst it was prompt delivery there doesn't seem to be any instructions.

Has anyone fitted one of these, and if so could you explain how I should go about it?

I'm also thinking of fitting a beak extension, are these any good? Finally; I promise! I'm also thinking of a hugger for the back wheel, which are the best?

Many thanks!

"But screw your courage to the sticking place" and read the pamphlet.....
Guard is easy, but you need to get a wee milking stool to sit by the bike or you'll get a fierce crick in your neck.
Dig in!

Take out the two screws at the sides of the beak just in front of the screen.
Slip out the two wee threaded clips that they fix to.
Put the bits in a presslock bag, label and store.

Assemble the cover with the wee "Z" shaped brackets as shown in the pic below (flat to teh top, slope to the bottom).

The cover slides up in front of the cooler from underneath the beak. Offer up the cover and see if you need to use spacers, and if so which ones (mine came with 2 pairs of different thicknesses).
Once you've decided which spacers to use, bolt in place through the beak & subframe where you earlier removed the screws.

P.S. If you're still stuck, drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do ;)

Fitted one of these recently, and I'm pretty handless. Can be a bit fiddly and requires patience.
May still have the instructions if you are stuck PM me.

Fitted a beak extension also which in my opinion adds something to the appearance, and I use the Wunderlich carbon hugger along with side panels to keep the mud/ water at bay.

Wizard has covered the radiator grilll fitting and on your other questions the beak exension is very simple to fit being a case of removing 2 screws and sliding the extension onto the beak then refit with the 2 longer screws provided.

One point though you will need some torx bits for teh BM but these are easy to source and not expensive.

Hugger wise I'm also using the Wunderlich carbon fibre and am very pleased with it. :thumb

Bring it and the bike along to the East Midlands event in two weeks time and I'm sure Reyno himself will fit it for the princely sum of about two pints ;)

Hi Paddymick, sorry about your Grille not having fitting instructions, will mention it to Norman.
If you PM me your e mail address i will send them across.
The long M5 screws provided should suit the fitting of the beak extender.
Any problems you can reach me on 07932 385578.

Thanks to all above for your speedy reply to this error. :thumb

Reyno

Many thanks.
I managed to get the grill on, I used the two screws that came out! It's a lovely piece of kit and thanks for taking the time to answer my problem, very impressive!

even more impressive ,that reyno replied when you had bought it from nippy norman, not direct from reyno. :mmmm ;)

I didn't know that I could buy it direct or I would have. I'm thinking of a beak, which is best? Does Reyno do these as well, I'd definitely buy one off him if he does!

BMW c.£22. Touratech c.£60. BMW one is slightly thinner material. Know which one I'd be going for :thumb
