Help Needed for Interesting Road from Monaco or Remo area to Lake Como

Hi Guys,

we are heading down to the coast along the Cote D'Azure via the Route Napoleon and looking for advice on any interesting roads from the coast up through Italy to Lake Como?

Any suggestions much appreciated?

Denise and I rode from Cannes to Monte Carlo, but it took far longer than we expected and ended up hitting the autoroute to get to Como. How long are you looking to take?

We have just returned from Lake Como, I am not sure about an interesting route to get there, my recommendation would be to get there asap, we used the Riva campsite in Sorico as a warm base and had days out on the bikes to the Stelvio Pass, St Moritz, Andermatt etc particularly enjoyable was a ride we took from John Hermanns book that started in Morbegno and climbed Passo St Marco on to S. Pellegrino, Clusone etc and on to Riva del Garda.
When the time came to head home I put in avoid toll roads on the gps and enjoyed a leisurely trip up to the Bodensee via Chur, stopped in Immenstaad, followed some green routes from Germany into France, Luxembourg and Belgium, Much better than punching along the motorways.

Thanks Guys, we are leaving on the 3rd Oct and hoping to be at Como mid week? i'm starting to think we should head to Como first then down to Monaco due to weather and conditions etc?
