HELP needed in Romford, Essex

Well this is the problem:I'm portuguese and I lend my GS to a Brasilian friend to make a tour around Europe, in Essex the bike had some starting engine problems and he just left the bike there and return to Brazil. Yep it seems after all he is not a good friend..... I have to go there and pick the bike but I really need some local help at least to tell me how is the bike and if she has any other problems... maybe help to find a garage to guard the bike for 2 or 3 weeks...

There are many people who use this site that will be able to assist, and I see that a few kind soles have replied already.

Bud, I think you are the closest, do you think you can go there and check the bike, she is in Romford in a hotel parking but exposed to the rain... I think it's a small problem in the starting engine, maybe the bendix, I really do not know, the brazilian just abandon the bike and did not explain to me exactly

I'm a regular client from Motorworks, so I can order a starting engine and send it to Essex, do you think you can guard my GS in your garage for 2 weeks??

I was plannig to go for Big Europe tour on June 7th departing from Lisbon, with this problem so close from departura date, maybe I fly to London and start the trip from there.... but to do that I have to be sure of the condition of the bike.

Please do not be scared when you see my GS, she is big and very used 200.000kms around 3 continents

Hi guys,

Thanks to the help you gave me I'm already in contact with Steve_Icbinb from ADVrider forum and Don "Budwiser" from here.

They are really nice guys and the went eyesterday to see my "Inga".
Steve took some pics and send it to me...

It seem she had some problems with the ignition key, It will not lock and the can not switched on also. The parking light were on so they disconect one fuse to save battery.

With this problem they can not test the starter and see if it ok or not ok, Don will pick the bike today to his garage and I hope they can start the key and test the starter.

It seems that there are also some water in the gasoline and the rear tyre is dead, but that it's easy to fix, As you can see here she already experienced not very good gasoline:lol3

Now I'm trying to call Don and Steve, Im looking for someone near Essex who have one 1100GS or 1150GS and understands a litle bit of mecanic maybe to help Don and Steve testing the starter or change that for one new I will order from Motorworks if necessary. Maybe a cheap bike shop it's also an idea... any advice??

anyway, It's very impressive what friendship among fellow riders can do, I'm in Lisbon, my lover is alone in London, and just with a few clics someone is helping and taking care of my "inga"

With the help of Don and Afonso Nunes we manage to start the trip around Europe and after 50 days we arrive finaly to home in Portugal and ended the pole to pole trip.
