ok here goes - select tools - select settings - select bluetooth - select add phone - select phone to find me mode - zumo locates my phone - select ok - phone wants to bond with zumo - select yes on phone - enter bluetooth passkey on phone - pin verified & saved on phone - phone locks up at this point - enter ok on zumo - zumo displays "bluetooth device connection has failed" - i now have to remove the battery for my phone to function - when i select the bluetooth link on my phone and select device history my phone has my zumo shown as a bluetooth device - any idea why my zumo connection has failed :confused:sorry my phone is a motorola red

Maybe the phone isn't compatible with the Zumo. Not all bluetooth devices will talk to each other.

reckon you are spot on with that - i contacted garmin support and my phone was not on the list of compatible phones - thanks anyway

Most Nokias seem to work to a greater or lesser degree with Garmins; alothough my wife's old Motorola SLVR seems to work better than anything and will even allow its text messages to be read out on her nuvi 770.

The 660 is the worst device I've ever come across for bluetooth compatibility, Iphone is one of the few phones that will work properly with it, I was in the market for a HTC but managed to test one and it wouldn't work properly. Glad I got the Iphone now, especially with OS4 due out soon :D

That's a pisser.

I though bluetooth was supposed to be a 'standard'

My phone is not on my car's list of compatible devices, but it works fine.

I had the same problem with my Blackberry storm, but i kept trying to pair with my 660 and for some strange reason it now works :blast had no problems with it since :thumb

funny you say the iphone's ok. i had an iphone 3g and a zumo 550. i could never get them to stay connected, the connection would drop usually after i had received one call.
i've recently changed to an iphone 3gs and zumo 660 and i'm still having trouble. they automaticlly connect, no problem, but as soon as i try to make a call everything just locks up. turn the zumo off, then back on and they automaticlly connect again.
not bothered me to much up to now, usually only shmbo rings me at the weekend, but going to mugello in 4 weeks times and could really do with being to make / receive calls during the week !!!
is there any way of hardwiring the iphone to the zumo 660 ???

eventually had to buy a new cellular phone - nokia 2730 classic which paired up with my zumu 660 at the first attempt :)

Had something similar. Trusty Nokia 6230i does a full directory exchange, whereas I can only call home via the N900.

My sony saito and 660 are exactly the same
I have been experimenting in the car mount at home ,keep getting the same problem
I have now got it working in the car and bike, mount
After turning on zumo wait untill it says failed ,
go to phone settings connectivity,
bluetooth, paired devices, zumo 660, click disconnect,
Back to paired devices, zumo 660, click connect to audio device,
It now connects to zumo and stays connected
It seems long winded but it worked on my phone

Initially my Nokia E71 wouldn't pair with my 660, and wouldn't show my contacts. I use a Cardo Rider earpiece and mic.
After a firmware upgrade on the Zumo, everything worked just fine, and has continued to do so.
Although Bluetooth is meant to be a "standard", which I think it is, I suspect that some manufacturers do not always implement Bluetooth correctly on all their phones. A bit like trying to run older version of software on an upgraded Operating System on a computer.

So, check out your firmware version on your Zumo, and also check your software version on your 'phone.... might just work.
