Help needed from the group. I am about to buy a nearly new 1300GS and need to buy some accessories. Advice (brand, site, bargains) on the following would be gratefully received
Crash bars (lower)
Day time running lights (Spots)
Panniers and racks (not the BMW Vario - prefer top loaders)
Tool box
Anything else that people recommend
Thanks

I’d recommend a flat bed loader

(Tongue in cheek before the usual cockwombles kick off 😜)

Touratech make great panniers, as do Bumot and I see a lot of folk now using Lone Rider hard (and soft) cases. They all make top quality gear so it comes down to style and price point.
A Bike Thing - have lots of info on lights and add ons - electrical and exhaust options.
SW-Motech also have great kit.
Generally you could loose a week of time (and much more in money) investigating Youtube for any number of things you never knew you just couldn't live without.
Most important - buy some lip salve as they're sure to split with all the grinning you have coming your way.
Enjoy your new bike (y)

Definitely Lone Rider Lights, B6 extras brake light and follow James at Shiny Side Up for the kit to alter the crazy indicator/ Brakes lights. Good luck nothings cheap with a BMW 🥲

Touratech sports crashbars…small and discrete.
Mudsling rear and avant front fender extender.
SW Motech quick release pannier rails ( then chose which panniers ( or soft luggage) you want)…I have soft kriega panniers
SW Motech rear rack ( can the fit any top box you wish ( I have a Givi fitted as I already had it)
Spots ( I have the bmw ones it came with)
Weiser wizard rear light system with b6 extra tail/brake light.

Then spend any other money on tyres and petrol

Farkles - the need, if there is one, depends entirely on how you intend to use the bike, it's not a group think decision.

The Starbukeroos will want a noisy pipe, massive panniers extra racks & a full on lightshow to dazzle the crowds of admirers at their local coffee stop (just thinking about that recent TMF video). Those who plan to use the bike as the Mothership intended originally, will probably get some crash bars, maybe some cylinder head protection, then ride the thing for a while, get the feel of the bike & create an inventory of what is actually needed for them to fulfil the journeys on their personal biking bucket list. Just a cynical POV for your delectation, as used farkles that prove unnecessary in real life tend to depreciate in value faster than a fast thing. BTW, don't forget the need to advise your insurers of any modifications.

Additionally, make sure your new Wankpanzer has been fitted with an AGM battery, not a lithium, if you want to avoid @Arsey 's suggestion in post #2.

I bought a 2016 GS in 2017 a year old with 3k I then put a further 65k miles on it then sold it! No 'farkles' I just liked riding it!

Agree re the battery swap - your dealer will change it foc.

Cylinder head covers, rather than scaffolding. If you have headlight pro, you wont need spots. Cant help on luggage. A front fender extender is always a good shout.
Less is more. Throwing the Wunderlich catalogue at them lightens your wallet and adds weight to the bike! Though the cool seat cover is really good for long distance work.

I can’t get on with the seat and switched it for a Wunderlich one which transformed the comfort. The loan bike I have at the moment reminded me of the seat!

Do you have the adaptive suspension?

Barry
I do on mine and straight out of the box I got the low battery warning because I was playing about with centre stand lift. Called the dealer and he explained and told me to put it on the charger. Since then all good….BUT bike has been in a nice warm garage all winter on the BMW charger . Haven’t started it yet as haven’t been out yet….Will have to give it a go soon….
Slightly off topic but we seem to have gone the bollocks of adding all the farkles to battery issues. 🤣🤣🤣
