Evening folks, having recently purchased a Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sport and I now wish to install an accessory box for connecting fog lights, sat nav etc. I need to find a switched live without cutting into the standard loom. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks. weebiggles.

There is a plug behind the dash that is used for accessories, you'll need to remove the fairings, look on e bay for a power splitter to connect into it. Honda also sell one but twice the price of e bay.

Thanks for your reply. This is similar to the fused box i have. Oxford also have a switched box which is identical but branded at three times the price. It was the extra red power cable for a switched live which was baffling me.

That's the beauty of the Thunderbox. No switched live needed. As soon as it detects 14v (ie running engine) it puts power to your accessories

I have already removed the side fairings to gain access to two hidden accessory plugs for OEM Honda fog lights. I had bought the correct fitting plugs with cables and the red service activation plug to wire my own generic driving lamps. As I do not want to cut into the bikes wiring loom I am confused exactly where to connect the third wire (red switched wire) but I will try your suggestion of the power splitter cable. Thanks for your reply.

There’s a switched live behind the left/right hand upper fairing for Auxiliary lights. They use a two way Sumitomo HX 040 series connector. I just wired my Aux lights into those and pigtailed a connector for my Garmin Satnav as it does not draw muck power. No additional boxes required an no issues after 3+ years.

although it works better if you use the switched live option so that my satnav stays powered on if I switch the engine off or want to use my tyre pump from the 12V accessory socket I have fitted to the Thunderbox.
Fortunately, there is a handy blank plug under the seat of the V85 you can plug into for a secondary USB charger I do not have fitted. Just buy the mating half from Ebay with a short lead to patch into the Thunderbox control wire.

Also there is a connector for the 12v Aux socket under the upper left hand fairing which you could pigtail off for a power supply......but I can't remember the connector type.
