Not being much of a mechanic, I need help to install the power lead for my new 2610. All offers considered. I'm near Ely in Cambridgeshire.

Below is a photo showing the pinouts on the cable for your SP 26xx GPSR. Pins 3, 4, 5, and 6 are only functional on the units that support dead reckoning (the 2650 and 2660).
It is important that you fuse the positive DC power being supplied to pin 1. The cable has a 'male' end on it, so to speak, and it is possible for the pins to short out to ground if the end of the cable brushes up against the handlebars, brake lever, steering head, etc. when it is not connected to the GPSR.

I have managed to thread the cable into the bike and now have the power + Audio feed above the clocks - waiting for the installation of a MiGSel mount. My problem is at the other end of the cable. I have a Red cable (fused) and a black cable. These are now by the fuse box. The bit I'm not happy about doing on my own is getting the cable into the fuse box and applying power to it.
Would really appreciate help to make this final connection.
Thanks for the cable pin out Pan, but I managed to get a lead that just gives a red and black. I will however make sure I keep the cover on the lead when not having the GPS on.

Power
Easiest option is to connect direct to battery, solder a couple of terminal connectors to the bare wire ends.
My last three GPS were connected in this way no problems.

Your last 3 GPSRs had recessed pins on the end of the power cable. The SP 26xx power cable has exposed terminals. It is quite important to use a fuse on the SP 26xx power cable - not so much for protection of the GPSR, but for protection of the cable. If the positive pin on the cable end shorts to ground, the little 22 gauge wires in the power cable won't last long with full battery amperage going through them.

The cable I purchased came with a fused positive lead, so I will have the appropriate protection as far as the fuse is concerned. I was just about to connect the 22 gauge wires to the main battery, I guess from your comments Pan European that I should not and have them routed though the fuse box?

I have the 2610 fitted at the moment with the garmin power lead which is fused anyway.
Previous, Garmin V, and E-Map.
1200 does not have fuse box so not an option.
Dont see a problem ??

My intent was to recommend that there be a fuse somewhere along the power lead. If the cable you have comes with a fuse inline, then that's sufficient, you can just connect it direct to the battery. Not all Garmin cables come with an inline fuse, and Gerry's original comment did not make clear that he had an inline fuse.
So, as long as you have a fuse somewhere, either the Garmin inline one or a small fuse from an aux bus on the bike, you are OK.

The lead has the inline fuse so I will sort out some crimps for the cable and connect it directly to the battery. Just waiting for the MiGSel mount now. Hopefully this weekend it will be all systems go
