Would be greatful for any help/advice/photos anyone can give me about wiring up my pro sport 7 to my 1200 gs. The autocom guy seemed to think i should just 'pop' the back off the aux socket and solder in the autocom +ve / -ve leads to those out the back of the socket and refit it. Also he suggested doing the same with the leads of my garmin zumo.

Is this correct?. I don't want to make an expensive mistake. If anyone has advice /tips for this i would very much like to hear them before i balls it up!.:augie

Cheers

We were correct but the earth direct to the battery would be better, on the 1200's this is the ONLY power source we recommend on the bike due to the bikes canbus wiring.

So red/green for the live feed of the socket and earth direct to the battery.

For the Zumo wiring we take off the left hand panels and run any wiring from the bars back over the top of the petrol tank under the plastic panel to eliminate and interference being carried via the leads from the bike. If the leads are ran under the tank the GPS link would be very noisy as this has been proven many a time with some of the bikes we have seen prefitted.

If you do a search I have covered all of the GS's fittings many a time on here and we would not supply you any information that wasnt right if we didnt believe in what we are saying. The GS's I would say are one of the most common bikes we fit :)

I never thought i was being misinformed, infact the guy who sold it me from autocom was firstclass in explaining it. It is my lack of a tech head that is the problem!!. Now i have pulled the back of the aux socket i am confused.

So is it red wire from pro sport into the back of the socket ( soldered to which colour?). Then the Black wire from pro sport directly to the bikes negative battery terminal.

For the zumo does the black lead from the power lead with the in line fuse on go directly to the battery also?, and the red to the same socket as the red from the pro sport went tp on the aux socket.

What leads do i then need to hear the zumo through the pro sport head sets?. Also is there any danger in causing abs problems with this set up?.

Thanks for the help mate.:thumb

Hi Rich,

I have also taken advantage of the 1/2 price offer and got a Kit 200.

Is it possible to wire the Autocom unit to a BMW plug and run it from the power socket? I currently run a Garmin 2610 powered from the underseat socket and was wondering if I could stick both power leads into a single plug or is this asking for trouble?

I might move the Garmin power supply to the canbus socket on the headset and then run the Autocom from under the seat

Hi Andy,

So then mate the red wire on the GPS and from your Pro will solder onto the red/green wire on the back of the power socket.

Both the blacks will wire onto the battery terminal via a crimped eyelet connector.

Fo the Zumo audio I would recommend our parts 1276 and 1314 to get you connected costing £103. The Part 1276 will plug into the AUX socket and connect the phone side of the Zumo via bluetooth. The Part 1314 is then used to connect the GPS and music from the Zumo cradle into the music socket on your Pro. Again once you fit these leads run them over the petrol tank to be safe.

You could run the plug to the power socket but if were to fit your bike we would do as the above and wire the GPS and comms into the same power sources. Or you could leave the GPS wired to where it is currently and wire your comms to the back of the power socket.

Thanks Rich

Will give that a go today. On the pro sport there is a speech level high/low socket. Am i right in thinking there is something to plug into that outlet in order to increase the volume in the headsets?. I have used it for a couple of years now and found it okay but sometimes a tad on the quiet side.

Hi Andy,

The Pro would of come with a shortened jack plug insterted which will increase the speech levels between the headsets only for ear plug use. However the speech hi/lo will not increase any parts plugged in like the GPS etc.

Rich

What does this shortened jack plug look like and i assume one end goes into the socket high/low? and the other end?.

Sorry to be a pain.

Andy

Its a 3.5mm jack plug body only no leads with two yellow rings around the tip instead of black as normal audio connections.
