Hi, i have spent the last 5 years or more changing my bikes like the wind and have even got round now to buying and selling them to fund my hobby. I have been rideing for 21 years, and most recently have owned a Tiger 1050, Tuono, VZR1800, Fireblade (current Bike) and i think its time for a change and to slow down a bit, however here is my dilema.

I love the way the GS looks, and i am seriously into riding long distances (i went to europe with a pal of mine and we covered 3800 miles in 5 days).

I am concerned that i have read so many reports of the GS being good and also some bad, but i guess you are going to get that with most things in life.

What sort of crusing speed will an adventure do is 80mph unreasonable? what would the tank range be at that speed?

Also what in your opinion should be my main reason for changing to a GS?

I welcome all comments, and advise you may be able to give.

Many Thanks

Simon

An Adventure will cruise at 80...

It'll cruise at 120 if you can hang on.

I have just bought my first GSA after 2 x 955i tigers.

It will cruise at 80mph all day but the vibes kick in at 75 which can be annoying. Nothing you can't live with but after multi's its a bit of a shock.

If I keep mine to below 70mph it does over 50mpg. Cruising at 80mph drops it back to 45mpg.

But even at this consumption the tank range is approaching 400 miles.

The tank range will far out distance what any 'normal' person could ride non stop.

Welcome to UKGSer Simon :thumb

90 mph all day ;)

Reasons to have one:

Bolt upright riding position
See over the tops of cars
take it off road if you feel the need :)
Sheer prescence of the beast on the road
carry two in comfort with all associated luggage for the yearly ( or more often) European tour
This place to have the P*ss ripped out of you at every opportunity :D
