hi jst a quick one i have a harrison L5 LATHE and need a bit of info on removing the chuck , so the face plate can be used .on the harrison 11 " there is a collet to knock anti clock wise ,any help will be usefull .cheers dicky

On mine all i do is put it in a low gear ,put the chuck key in at the top ,and give it a good sharp yank towards me ,it's threaded on with an ordinary right hand thread.
You could try smacking the chuck key with a mallet if this doesn't work.

I snapped a chuck key using the chuck key and hammer to get the chuck off - brazed the square bit back on and its been as good as gold for the last 8 years lol.

Now I lock the chuck using the back gear/ low gear, and just use a 2ft length of square bar in between the chuck teeth to loosen it, if that makes sense and it unscrews no problem at all, no hammering or force needed.

good point ,although mine has always come off easily using the chuck key ,but if it ever gets stuck i will remember that.:thumb

Yes i am one of the few that can say, I didnt jump on the great gs band wagon money tree. Yes i discoverd them before obeonecanobe and that other bloke who nobody knows, and the back up of 4,000 tech blokes, 2 20,000k pickups, two bmw top tech boffins, medic, and 6 million watching. I wonder what Ted Simon had as back up?
