I need to buy a battery for my 2001 1150 today! Would like to get a OEM gel type.

What size, power should I be asking for? Is it a standard motorcycle battery?

If any of you could help me with where I can buy one from (off the shelf), in or around Worcester I would appreciate it....

Reason for urgency, I'm on my first off-road trip tomorrow morning and don't want to miss it, nor, end up stranded in deepest Wales!

Thanks GS'ers:thumb2

Can't help with where to buy one locally, but it's the fourth one down on this page:

"BMW Gel battery original equipment 19amp/hr (R850/R1100/1150R/GS/RT/RS/S/C)"

If you're riding in company on your trip take some jump leads ;)

Thanks for that spec Matt - If only they were located in Worcester/Cheltenham area!!:)

If you've a BMW dealer near you, they'll probably have one in stock (although I'm not sure what the prices will be like....)

From what I've heard conventional wet cell batteries aren't really up to the job (on ABS bikes anyway). They haven't got the capacity to start the bike and maintain enough voltage for the ABS initialisation. You might get away with it while it's brand new, but as soon as it loses some capacity......

I'm just about to junk the pretty new wet cell batt that my bike came with - even on a maintenance charger, it will rarely initialise the ABS from a cold start.
