Hi.

Having fiddled and faffed about with the screen on my new GSA, I still seem to be getting a fair degree of either turbulence or wind noise, whichever position I seem to select.

As it's my first GSA (nay, first proper windscreen :D) is there an ideal setting, where noise is minimal and buffeting reduced to a gentle massage?

Does anyone have a recommended or favourite setting/height? Assuming there is one! Or is it something you have to put up with? I'm keen to avoid a replacement screen or a spoiler thing on the top edge, if I can...

The bike's as it came out of the crate, and I'm 5'11" in my platform socks...

Hi,

I'm the same sort of height as you, and I tend to have my windscreen set in the middle position....this works for me. :thumb2

I'll be honest I think that's what it was set at from the factory when I bought it?...I did tinker with it a little, but found very little difference.

I've read loads of posts on here about turbulence, but I've never found it excessive or a problem.....but that may be because I'd expect there to be some and so accept that there is?!? :nenau

I come from a touring bike background, where these days electric screens are the norm, and minimal turbulence is expected....riding a Pan ST with the screen up was like being behind patio doors!....but I don't expect that from my GSA...in fact I wouldn't want it.

It sounds like you're coming from naked bikes/sport bikes?...are you expecting too much from your new screen?...it works, but it's not a full on touring screen/bike.

If after fiddling about you don't get any joy, both Wunderlich and Touratech do screen extensions that bolt to the top of the screen..or there are things called Torbinators(?) which adjust/support the screen I think...but I've no experience of any of those products.

Hope that helps a bit?

I bought a Touratech screen extender which works perfectly after I tried all sorts to get it right.

Well worth the money but would be worth trying one before you shell out the hard earned:thumb

For small-road bimbles.. the GS "stock" headshaking is all well and good... but for taking the thing on the motorway for hours at a time, in a cross-wind.. it's way too much work.. better to have it off IMHO.

I've managed to make mine much much better by cutting down my stock (non ADV) screen, and attaching it to the top of a wide Givi screen.

Plus I use the shortened screen for warm weather and offroad:

Thanks for the replies, chaps, much appreciated.

I'm happy to tolerate a little turbulence, but just wanted to make sure it was the norm, rather than me setting much greater expectations :blast

I'm off to the Picos/Pyrenees in a couple of weeks, so will have a proper fiddle then, and then look at the screen extenders, or maybe borrow someone's for an hour while we're out there.

Cheers
