What size monitor screen do I need, so I don't have to scroll abart all over the place to see stuff...

Currently 17" widelyscreen...

Have you ...

... a 'roller' mouse ? If so press and hold the 'Control' key down (bottom left or right) and roll the roller, hey presto, no need for a bigger screen

Chris......go to the desktop on the screen and right click......select the 'Properties' line (probably the bottom one) then click the 'settings' tab in the box that comes up.

What resolution is your screen running at?

It'll say something like 800x600 or 1024x768 etc.

Try raising this by moving the slider, OK it and see what it looks like.

You should be able to get all of the UKGSer page on a 17 inch monitor- I think your resolution is just set too low :)

It says 1024 x 768 and that's at the max of the slider..

I've just set mine down to that and it displays the whole screen fine......(the reason it won't go any higher is because it would appear you either have a basic graphics card or the drivers aren't loaded for it if it's a better one)

Try what Paul says, that ought to work :thumb2

If it doesn't (or you don't have a mousey with a roller wheel on it), post back and we'll sort you out :)

I'm guessing I'm at the limits of my ancient PCs' parameters .. it's an HP pavillion jobbie... amongst other prob's only got 512k of RAM..

Guess an investment is required in the new year....

You probably are, but that shouldn't make any difference to the scrolling /screen size issue :)

That's what I thought.. I guess people are posting large pictures and stuff ...

:beerjug:

They do, but usually one of us mods will print it out, cuts the edges off and poke it back down the little hole in our MOD Issue modems so that people don't have the problem.

Do you have the scrolling problem on a thread with no pics, like this one for example?

Nope...just did several scrolls for the sheer fun of it..

No probs..

Thanks for your help and advice , before I lose the ability to do stuff..

That's probably because you've got an LCD monitor (as evidenced in the Sunday Afternoon thread) and it's got a fixed resolution. If you want to see more dots, you're going to have to buy a monitor with more dots.

Of course, you might buy a better monitor and then find that you had a crappy graphics card, which also needs updating too. I suggest that you borrow a monitor from a mate before buying, or wait until you upgrade the lot, as you're more likely to get a good deal that way.
