Hi folks,

I noticed a Torx screw missing from my windshield whilst cleaning yesterday. It's one of 4 that attaches the screen to the black plastic bracket at the back of the screen. Got photos but don't know if I've successfully attached to this message. Does anyone know which size/reference it is? I've emailed BMW but can I get it from Screwfix or somewhere?

TIA

Gary

If you pop in to your nearest dealer they would probably give you one, it’s a consumable for them they’ll have a box full

Cheers, I did email them last night and they said they'll have a look. :)

I’m pretty sure I’ve got a box full of bodywork and screen Torx bolts from my many GSes. If you don’t get any free from the dealer PM me and I’ll put a couple in the post.

Gentlemen, please...
It's a bloody screw...

Buy it from dealer and carry on.
Mailing the screw? The stamp will probably cost more than the screw...

I always buy OEM fixings for jobs like this….. they need to match… (IMO)

The oem screw costs around £2 each from a dealer. I’ve had to buy 3 or 4 of them over the last two years. Each time I’ve removed and refitted the screen on my TE I’ve managed to lose one into the bike’s bodywork :doh. Last time I purchased 2 screws so I’ve got a spare ready for the next time!

I know exactly what you mean :D

Most of the time, shaking the bike or move it forward and brake hard will make the culprit drop to the floor.
However, buying a selection of these screws has saved me lots of extra rides to the dealer :aidan

And considering the details on the screws (wider neck and a nylon sleeve to protect the paint), i find their price quite acceptable. :okay

Sorry just saw this Matty, that was very good of you to offer. The dealer has to order one for me - said it would be £2.25 but when I went to pick it up they said no charge. Nice bit of aftersales goodwill. :)
