From memory the situation is different if you deal with the provider direct or through an agent (eg Carphone Warehouse etc).

Unfortunately with pressures to meet targets sales people in the mobile industry have been known to embelish the "truth".

Good luck anyway I'd be doing exactly the same.

I have a Voda USB Modem and that connects via 3G/HSDPA at 7.2MPS, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can use the full bandwidth.
I believe there is a 14 day period where you can return goods as not fit for purpose.
Have you tried it in different areas? 3 doesnt have the coverage of other Networks, if there is no 3 transmitter in the locality it will fall back to o2, you may find you are getting a 2G connection which is more like the Dial up speed on landlines.

He's seeing 250k downstream. Crap but technically Broadband so assume it's on 3G rather than GSM/ GPRS.

I have a 3 modem thing and its crap too, Huawei brand, its as slow as dial up or worse, it only ever worked properly once, tried it all over the place, it ought to go back, their signal strength page on the web is bollox too, it shows my home to be in a good signal area, nothing at all on the modem, emergency only on the phone :nenau
