Hi guy's,

Problem I'm having plan route on mapsource then down load to sd card gpx format. Put sd card into 550 and nothing. Checked sd card on computer and the info is there.

I've not tried this.. (using an SD card) but why not download the route straight to the Zumo? that's what works for me.

I'd normally download is straight to the Zumo too.

But if it's on your SD card, have you tried selecting "user data", "import data" & then "routes"?

I can download straight to the 550, Which I have done.

Reason for the sd card is so i can plan several other route just in case of any change of plans.

If I remember rightly, you can store up to 50 routes directly on the Zumo 550......

I too usually copy routes to the SD card in gpx format - that way the route can be re-imported from the card if everything goes t*ts up. You can have lots of gpx files, with multiple routes in one file, and just import selected ones.

Is the card definitely recognised by the Zumo? Not sure, but I think the 550 works with cards up to 4GB.

Have you copied the file to the right folder? I don't have my Zumo with me, but from memory it goes in a folder \GPX or possibly \Garmin\gpx on the SD card.

The Zumo usually recognises when new data have been added to the card (if its in the right folder) and asks if you wish to import it. You can also initiate the import in the way Jon describes.

Rather than try to think of all the route options before leaving home I bought a little netbook. With Mapsource on that I can easily replan while travelling. It takes up very little space, runs for a long time without recharging and is also useful when tethered to mobile phone for checking emails and internet.

I have used mine for three around Europe trips and would not be without it. The only problem I had was getting data services on my phone in some Eastern European countries but it was easy to find free wi-fi sites so not a big problem.
