Dead cheeky this but necessity is the mother of invention! Im doing an iron butt for British Legio. This is gonna cost me £150 or so in petrol etc. Ive just dug a screw ou my back tyre so am at risk of not being able to do this because of cost of new one. So, does anyone have a Tourance part worn with 1500 miles tread left on it they fancy donating to this cause? Ive raised a couple of hundred on just giving so would like to do this if possible.

Got a pair of Anakee2 that may do the job. Front may not (2/3mm) but rear (4/5mm) should, your welcome to collect them. I'm about 3 miles from J19 on M6

Just noticed where you are so may not be worth the trip.

Hi Ted, thanks for the offer :thumby: but as you say may be a little far. I have tried to entice my supplying dealer into doing a deal but no joy so far!

Unlucky. I had to smile and say yeah I know when mechanic told me the tyres had loads of wear left, why replace....

I replaced my tyres before last years rally and was lucky enough to not have any misfortune.

Swap a new pair for an Alto Saxophone ? Trevor James really nice sound. :thumb2

+1 for repair. I've used plugs loads of times and are very reliable for things like nails and screws. If you don't have a repair kit take it to a tyre centre and have it repaired...should be pretty cheap

So long as the tyre carcass is sound when inspected internally and the hole isn't next to the sidewall a plug will be fine, I've had a couple of rear Tourances repaired with no problems for about £15 each.

Tourance

Hi Ianran,

Yes, I have exactly what you need. I change my rear Tourance to go to Germany last month and kept the original as there is about 1500 - 2000 miles left on it. The trip would have seen it off. BUT, I'm on the Somerset/Devon border near Tiverton so you might think it a bit of a trek to fetch it..

PM me if you want it.

Fluff

Assuming its in the belted area, plug it or use Puncturesafe. Some will scoff at the latter idea but its used by the police and if the tyre had collected a nail or screw during the run you would never know. PS will seal small punctures, but to my mind its main benefit is slowing down a fast puncture giving time to stop before it throws the bike into a weave.

Bit far sadly but thanks for the offer.

The tyre dooesnt have enough life to warrant repair guys especially as the screw was on the edge. New tyre or part worn sadly. Looks like credit card is gonna go to the limit:blast

I've got a Michelin Anakee that's only had about 2500 miles on it if that's any use?
I'm in High Wycombe area if you want to pick it up.

Cheers, Steve
