I have a Tomtom Go 540 which has Bluetooth – so thought this will work well with a Cardo Scala Teamset Pro (Bluetooth).
Now bought the Scala unit to find that whilst the TomTom will see the it, it won’t connect as it’s waiting for me to stick a 4 digit code into the scala unit so it can pair:blast

So any suggestions as to:
How I can get around this with what I have?
Which SatNav should I buy to work with the Scala equipment?

Try 0000 or 1234 as they seem to be the default codes used by BT manufacturers.

If I pair my iPhone with my Nav IV from the Nav IV, the code is 1234
With my Sena SMH10r headset, the code was 0000

Hi Paul

But it's the tomtom asking for the code from the scala and as there's no way to input a code on the scala it won't pair.

Fundamental mistake - the TomTom Go 540 is a car GPS which will support Bluetooth connection to your phone (on which you could enter a 4 digit pairing code) but not to a headset. Ideally, for motorcycle use, you want a GPS unit which supports dual pairing to both a phone and headset so that the GPS operates as a hub to route phone calls to your helmet headset as well as sending navigation directions to it.

As Pablo says, Zumo 660 / BMW Navigator IV will do what you want. I suspect that TomTom Rider will do the same but have no personal experience of this unti.

Pair the GPS to the Scala and not the Scala to the GPS;

Put the Scala into GPS Pairing Mode (Press Volume Up Button for 5 Seconds).
Purple Lights Flash on the Scala.
Search for Bluetooth devices on the Sat Nav and Select the G9
Pin for the Scala is "0000" which you can enter on the GPS Device.

Zumo 660 will support Bluetooth and Stereo Cable Connections i.e. Autocom etc.
BMW Navigator IV in the cradle only really supports Bluetooth.

Zumo 550 will pair and work with scala G9 but if you also pair phone to zumo everything becomes random with all sorts of dropout issues! It appears to work but make/receive a call and it fails!
