help windows password!!

my lovely kids have locked thier pc and no one remembers the password thay used. it was the 5 year old that did it. is there any way of sorting it or do we now have a bloody great big paper weight.

any help welcome please befor i kill the kids.

what version of Windows? <-- this makes a big difference; Win98 probably no problem; WinXP is a bit harder to get round
 
xp home on a dell but got fustrated and reinstalled xp and now the sound, usb and 2 othe drivers are now not installed so i think i've buggered it up any further help will still be apretiated
 
Sorry I did not see this thread. There are several password resetting programmes you could have used.

If you have a new Dell PC you should have received a companion Dell Resource Disk (CD) that contains all the necessary video, Audio ETC drivers. Just place the CD in the drive. It should run and offer to install the Dell Resource. This will install and will then detect the model and then in a sort of explorer screen will display a list of the hardware found on the machine. There will be an install button under each item. The process is very well explained and should take just 10 - 20 minutes. It WILL want you to restart the machine between each installation of a driver. Do NOT ignore this, just restart the PC each time!

If you don't have or can't find the Dell Resource disk the drivers are all available for download at the Dell website. Just type in the Service Tag number of the PC and it will automatically select the correct versions.

thanks eventualy worked that out just seen your post must have picked up the thought waves from you thank you this place is brilliant and faster than microsoft help too
 
for future referance

should be sorted 5 accounts including the administraters accont and each kids accounts must be loged on and NO ONE touches admin but me.

I HAVE TAKEN CONTROLE
