Help with XP

Ok Guys and Girls.

Lets get this straight first.....I am no compuet wizard. In fact the complete reverse!

Here's the problem

Turn computer on. This works OK!
Move mouse to Start at bottom left of screen and left click to bring up menu
That works
Click on open documents......And nothing. Computer whizzes and rumbles, has a think about things, and then tells me it is going to send an error message to microsoft.

I can access Internet, and most other things, but it does not want to play opening documents, the CD drive etc.

Anyone got any ideas?

There should be a link on the error message that it sends to MS - something like "view error message"? What does it say? If it's binary then still post it.

The other thing to try - if you open MS explorer (not internet explorer) and click on "my documents" does it show them?
