Hi, i know a few people have these panniers, just wondered how they were fairing in the long term.

How does the SW motech mount compare to the hepco one?

Cheers

Simply The Best....

I think they're about the best! Trouble is they do stick out a bit and are fairly wide, but if that doesn't bother you then no probs.

They're as tough as they come, stood Sue's bike on one of hers to get the 'bike onto the back of a lorry in Mongolia. She fell of numerous times in the sand and didn't damage them, or bend the frames (F650GS)

Pal 'Joe Dakar' at Wunderlich crashed at 70mph (1200GS)and the panniers were still serviceable, still fitted, and didn't leak, scruffy and scuffed but still worked fine!

Will be getting Hepco & Becker frames for my 1200GS-A

The H&B Gobi panniers are 10 1/2" (270mm) wide, and they will be on frames mounted on the outside of the exhaust (650/1100/1150/1200) because they're not shaped to go round the exhaust, as are the original BMW panniers and frames that fit more 'snug' ...

So they're W I D E  Helluva problem in London, but no probs when no traffic

eric - i think motobins is the official dealer.

these Hepco and becker panniers look good (as do the Alumiium exclusive ones). i just worry about how wide they are on the bike. I'll do some measuring with and see roughly how wide they are going to be on the bike.

Micky - if yours are on the bike, any chance you could post the overall width. I may end up just going for the BMW ones, as all the other dealers (metal mule, touratech, Hepco and becker) are miles away from Newcastle so its a bit of a pain even gettting a look at some.

Thanks for the infoe

Afraid the pannier mountings aren't on the bike now, so can't measure up. Suffice to say add 10 1/2" to each side of the bike, and maybe an inch for clearance of the frames from the bike/exhaust etc. You'll be about right at that.

I got mine from Wunderlich in Germany, fitted there and then to get them home... no probs. If you make a 'shopping list' of goodies that you want from Wunderlich then it's probably cheaper to pop across and buy them over there!

Any excuse eh :D

Hope the above helps...

I've H and B's Auminium Expedition panniers on the bike and while not the Gobis the pannier frames are universal and the width is 52.5 cms

I went for a 37 /43 litre combination of pannier sizes to allow for the offset of the frames round the exhaust although I have heard from owners who use 43 litres on both sides with no problems.

The combined width of both my panniers is 54cms compared to the Gobis which are 50cms according to the Motobins website.

Motobins are the official importers for H and B in the UK and can supply all the bits including spare parts if required.

Hope this helps. :thumb

They'd be much narrower if they fitted straight
