Hepco and Becker tank protectors

Just fitted the H&B engine bars on a standard 1200.. the extension bits that protect the tank are another thing

Anyone know if you can get the tank side panels off without totally dismantling the extension bar??

Should I need quick access to the fuel pump controller ?

I certainly didn't manage to get the side panels off with bars in place.

My solution was to change how the top brackets attach to the frame. The standard fixing method (u-Bolts) was really awkward and just as bad to dismantle as I found out when I was getting my bike ready for a dealer service (and didn't want to pay for removal costs). However once the top brackets are off you can loosen the two brackets where the bars join onto the engine bars and slide the bars along to the left and this then gives enough room to remove the left hand tank side panel and get access to the fuel pump controller.

If you have lights fitted to the bar then a good idea to make sure you have a bit extra wire which helps the tank bars move further out of the way.

Thanks for the reply... I thought it would be a pain... I part fitted the top bits today and then thought better of it..Sounds like a bit of a design flaw with the bars......
