Hi Just received my Hepco and Becker engine and tank/frame protectors. I am going to fit them at the weekend but thought I would ask if anybody has done the job before and has words of wisdom about the fitting process :D I don't expect it to be a big problem but better to know firsthand as it were.

Would be good if you had one for the engine bars anyway.
Just take your time, follow the instructions (in German) and you'll be fine.:thumb

Yes Its important not to over torque into alloy casings. I think I will have one by the weekend;), should have bought one years ago!

Make sure that when the bike is on the center stand it is on level ground. This will enable all bolts to be screwed in straight and avoid damaging the threads in the engine casing.

File all sharp edges smooth plug threads and get them powder coated. The guys I use would charge about £20.

Mine went rusty around the joins and grub screws :(

To be fair to them the paint work looks better than the paint on the frame of the bike! But I am not worried about corrosion they rarely use salt on the roads here and I don't go out when it rains:D I was more concerned about the fitting process. British weather and salt, its a pain rusts everything.

True. I had them fitted for six years and could've taken better care. I also have corrosion starting in the front engine cover area too
