Just completed refurbishing some engine bars that I got from Tuby Kay of this parish. They were that badly corroded that he had to cut the cross tube in half to get them off.

As they arrived in the box minus one spacer. Thanks to Timpo for making me a new one and then posting it on-top bloke!

Tools assembled ready to get them apart

Luckily, Tuby cut them at an angle which made aligning them for welding a lot easier

All welded and ready to take to the powder coaters
TBC

So they came back from the powder coaters a little bit too silvery but I'm sure they will dull

It's amazing what you can hide under powder coating

As always exercising good tool control.

As you can see it doesn't blend in too well with the other framework

All done although I did struggle with positioning the tax disc until I remembered there was a whole thread on it

Total cost to refurb including buying them was £40 which isn't bad plus I got to fettle in my man cave for an evening

Rust ol bars

Shity start turned around nicely, job well done and more satisfying than just throwing new bars on ,they look semi chromed :D:thumb

They do resemble semi chrome. I think it is due to the depth of lacquer on them. As an experiment I scuffed the mating face engine mounting plate with scotchbrite and that dulled it down leaving it not dissimilar to the rest of the bike frame. Ill see how it wears and perhaps scuff the rest of it.

Good bars, had them on my 04 and they saved it in a long slide about 30mph in the wet (diesel on a roundabout).
