Is it just me.. :nenau

A tale at the Stafford Auto-Jumble..I find a small stall with quite an interesting selection of used BMW airhead parts and accessories.

In a box under the stall are three of the OE plastic coated hinged cable locks, two are priced at £15 and the nicer one £20; as you know these were made to fit into the spine tube and are becoming quite rare.

As I go to pay him I ask for the key..Key..Key..They don’t have keys says he..BUT, I do have one in the van with a key, but that’s 50 quid cos you can’t get keys for them you know..Huh.

But, why would I want one without a key? Well people just like to have them, like the OE tool kits I sell, you wouldn’t do any serious work on your bike with them, and you wouldn’t trust a bicycle with one of these would you..People buy a bike and find one hidden they didn’t even know they had, the key long gone..D’you want one or not.?

No different to a generic jumble sale where people buy old tat as an ornament. Looks pretty but no longer functions as originally intended.

Want a functional item then you have to pay for it as such and scarcity is likely to mean a higher price.

I know what you mean. I have an ignition lock in my spares stash - but no key 🤷🏻‍♂️

It could be a 5 position switch and be worth more than the seemingly more common 3 position, but I have no idea.

In its current form it’s likely worthless but others think they have value
