Delboy777 - as per PM, here you go pal, hope its ok.

I`ve tried to take your wishes on board re the TT one looking too unweildy and ugly but I`ve tried to still offer some protection.

Hope its what you want and I`ve understood you correctly - let me know eh?

Regards, Mark.

Ok MARK, ive PMd you and ordered one from the site. cheers, Del

Thats quite neat, looks like a bottle opener, dual purpose!

the only thing I would say is if anything hit it, it looks as if it would just bend inwards breaking off the plug, where as at least the touratech one has got a return on it, back to the throttle body:bounce1

Mark says it is as strong as feck and the force required to bend it would be such that that would be the least of your problems lol. I will see when the prototype arrives.

Ive got a Rugged Roads protector on mine. TBH its not pretty and I suspect being so large it just increases the leverage of any impact. The cover discussed looks 100% better but I would like more space between it and the plastic. A spacer between the new metal plate and throttle sensor would allow the plate to spring inwards without hitting anything breakable. A secondary support underneath would be even better.

FFS what's all this ugly and pretty bollox? It's a protective cover and I reckon if you damage that you will be worrying about a lot more than what it looks like.

There's engineered to do the job ugly and not properly thought about ugly. Mine is the latter but it (probably) does the intended job. Mark's cover seems to have had some thought.

In one.

Yup, let's see....

Nearside fall, clutch lever gone, gear lever snapped off, footrest missing, wing mirror not where wing mirror should be (not life changing). Whirly wheel for dialling up sat nav, 'tunes' and phone in tatters... End of the world.

Easiest, cheapest and best solution? Try not to fall off your bloody motorcycle too often.

Still worried? Work out (get a friend to help) how often you have fallen off in the last week, month, year, decade... And exactly how much damage to your bike you did. Written off? OK, why? 150:1 says it wasn't because your bike lacked this particular bit of bent metal.... It was because you stuffed it into a hedge or through a wall or into a car, or it slid and hit a curb or just got tangled up with a recalcitrant trolley in Lidl's car park and you lacked a pound coin to untangle it.

Very true but the throttle body TPS is easily whacked with a boot while getting off the bike. At least one was reported busted by a friend's young son getting on the bike. The cover is alleged to solve that.

I have no idea why Beemer chose to stick it out in the breeze like that (OK - it was cheap). As said before, engineered ugly is one thing but can't be arsed to do it better is annoying. Not to mention vulnerable to damage.

Mine also has covers on the clutch and brake pots. Trite? Ugly? Affected? All of that but they do stop the local yobs pissing in them.

Solve young sons getting onto motorcycles and, if they do, kicking bits?

Telling them not to, would seem the tidiest solution. No allegation required.

I think...........like you usually do, youve completely missed the point  Its not there to protect the sensor from being damaged in a spill, its there to save the connecter being snapped of by a stray left boot when riding the feckin thing.............jeezus some peeps just dont get it do they :comfort:nenau:augie

OK

Easiest solution, try not to kick the thing when getting on and off. Those few with clumsy small sons may well require a large stick to reinforce the message, forcibly... Or the help of the child's mother.
