Free bump for Steve - GoPro arrived less then 24hrs after ordering, superb bit of kit and SUCH fun! No biking vids yet, but I rigged a BorderTerrierCam this afternoon - fantastic!

From what I can se of the GoPro 2 it just has the ability to take higher resolution stills. If the GoPro is mainly used for video it does not seem to have any advantage - other than resulting in a big price drop for the "standard" version.

The quality is much better due to the new sensor , Also you have the option to change the viewing angle ( no more fisheye) if you have the old one i dont think there is much point upgrading ,but i would buy one if i did'nt have the older one

The old GoPro has a 127 degree view at highest resolution and 170 at lower resolutions. The new one also has 127 and 170 and the only difference I can see from the manual of the new one is that there is an option to choose 127 OR 170 at the highest resolution. The others are still 170.

I don't use the 170 on the Mk1 because the fisheye effect is much to pronounced. I cannot see any options on the Mk2 to reduce fisheye, only get more at the highest resolution.

Full HD requires just over 2 million pixels and the old GoPro spec shows 5 M so the advantage of more only comes about when shooting stills.

Maybe there are some other advantages with the Mk2 but so far I have not found them.

it has multiple leds to show when it is recording. i think they are on the front, back, sides so can always be seen. quite a useful feature, but hardly essential IMO.

the upcoming (jan?) remote control back and iphone app will work with both models.

Depends on use I suppose. Most of my use is as helmet cam and the front LED in my mirror shows its running. If its fixed to bike I use the LCD screen and that shows I am recording so more LEDs would not help me.

The idea of a remote appeals, then it does not have to be fixed within reach.
